This week’s Edward Jones/Woodruff Middle School Athletes of the Week are 7th grader Jamon Thomas and 8th grader Jerome Romain.
Jamon is a member of the 7th grade football team. He has had a very successful season as running back, including scoring four rushing touchdowns against Gable to help secure the first 7th grade win of the season with a commanding victory of 30-12. On defense, Jamon plays safety and handles all of the kicking duties on special teams. Head Coach Phil Hembree says Jamon has done an excellent job for the 7th grade team this year and he expects big things from him in the future.
Jerome is a member of the 8th grade football team and has helped the Cubs post a winning record of 4-2. The Cubs are currently third place in the 11-member Peachtree Conference. Last week Jerome had 6 individual tackles against Gable to help secure the 16-0 victory. This was Jerome’s fourth straight game in which he led the team in tackles. Head Coach Phil Hembree says that Jerome has improved each week and has turned into a dominating defensive tackle and knows that Jerome will do great things for Woodruff in maroon and gold next year.
Jamon and Jerome will receive a t-shirt and a certificate from the Edward Jones Investment Company. Congratulations!
